Berghia Nudibranch (Berghia stephanieae)
All of our Berghia are bred and shipped directly from our facility in Germany. This allows us to produce berghia with excellent size, vitality, and quality while ensuring value for money. Our current breeding line produces Berghia that grow to a size of approx. 2.5 cm after two months*.
Berghia are 100% reef-safe and feed exclusively on aiptasia, a common pest anemone in saltwater aquariums. We breed our Berghia in state-of-the-art, coral-free and aiptasia-free systems without fish or invertebrates. This minimizes the risk of introducing disruptive algae, pathogens, or parasites into your aquarium. Berghia are normally nocturnal and usually hide during the day - unless they are hungry - then you will see them roaming around in your aquarium.
The common stocking recommendation was 1 Berghia per 50 liters to prevent the animals running out of food too quickly. Aquatic Innovations GmbH is the first company in the EU that offers Aiptasia for purchase. This means you can provide your Berghia with enough food, which ensures long-term care and takes the pressure off you for rehoming your berghia once your system is free from aiptasia.
Recommended stocking density: for severe aiptasia infestations, we now recommend a higher stocking density of up to 5 berghia per 10 liters. This allows for faster control of you Aiptasia problem and makes our larger packages particularly economical.
Your Berghia will be delivered with full acclimatization instructions and a transfer pipette.

Important instructions
- Avoid predatory fish! Most wrasse species eat Berghia. Even though Berghia concentrates the stinging cells of Aiptasia in their cerata, this doesn't reliably protect them in the aquarium - especially not during daylight or when they're hungry.
- Please follow the enclosed acclimatization instructions carefully so as not to endanger the animals during introduction.
